Speed-Meter - Who should use it ?

- Web designers to test if the pages they have just finished loads well for the
target market ? They can use the manual version of the tool as it is required only
ocassional measurement.
- Portals - one of the key factors to your revenue is the number of page-views your
site produces. If it takes too much time to load your page, visitors will not wait.
They'll move on.
If the performance of your site is not reliable - sometimes it gets slow - people will be
frustrated and will not like the site. - For this you can do ocassional measurments but in order to ensure
continous good performance you have to setup regular monitoring of the site.
- Content providers / newspapers Selling advertisements on your site ? - What if
your site is really fast but the advertisement that comes from another site of another
company is a lot slower ? Your visitors will see your site but not the advertisement.
Advertisers will not like it and will leave you. By monitoring the performance of your
web-site you can always be sure that even if such problems occure you'll be the first to
notice them. Early enough to solve the problem before others notice it.
- e-commerce sites - You need the large number of visitors but it is even more
important that thay can buy at your site. So it is not enough any more to once in a while
you measure a single HTML document. You have to monitor the performnace of your shopping
cart and purchase system.
Do you use a third party system that is located on another server ? Are you sure that
their performnce does not have a negative impact on your business ?
